GODPARENT DAY – FEBRUARY 11/12

Many of you have the honor and responsibility of being a godparent.  The lifelong relationship of godparent-godchild will be celebrated at worship services this weekend.  When you arrive to worship, there will be name tags available for you with the phrase that says “I am the godparent/godchild of….”   (Fill in the names).  There will also be postcards for you to send to your godparent or godchild saying “Today was Godparent Day at our church so I thought of you.”   Who will you invite to worship with us on this special day?

TALENT SHOW  - February 19 at 6:00

The featured entertainer will be Dan Kirk, the Juggler with the Yellow Shoes!  Dan is a full-time, professional juggler, entertainer and teacher of the art.  He began to juggle at the age of 16.  His stage performances include exciting family-oriented comedy routines, a wide variety of juggling, zany balloon twisting, and the use of audience members.  He has been featured on the cover of “Guideposts” magazine.  Dan entertained at Lifefest, a Christian Music Festival in Oshkosh.  In 2008 he was on America’s Got Talent.  In addition to Dan, there will be about 12 other acts that you won’t want to miss!

Come for a night of family fun!  Desserts will be served during intermission.  No admission – just a suggested donation of $5.00 per person which will be donated to the organ fund.   Invite a guest!

JAZZ WORSHIP – FEBRUARY 26

Elizabeth Tomboulian, jazz pianist and vocalist, will be the guest musician for Jazz Worship Services to be held at Zion on February 26 at 8:00 and 10:30 am.

Elizabeth’s music profession began as a singer/songwriter and evolved to specialize in jazz and South American music.  She has been active in the music ministry of several church denominations, most recently at First English Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.  Although she recently moved to New Jersey, she taught privately for Appleton East and North high schools while in the area.

The liturgy for jazz worship will be setting #6 from the cranberry ELW hymnal.  This is a setting from the gifts of African American worship and song.

This is a great opportunity to invite a neighbor, a friend, or a co-worker to worship at Zion.
